Why do sleep and complacency overwhelm us when Ramadan comes?
I have been questioning a situation for a while, please don’t misunderstand me but I just want to learn the truth:
Why sleep and laziness lay hands on us when we are in Ramadan? Is this caused by the Ramadan itself or by fasting?
Thank you for your response.
No, thousand times no!
Ramadan and sleep, Ramadan and idleness, Ramadan and laziness, Ramadan and jollification… These words will never come together until the day of judgment.
These leaks you mentioned are caused by our negligence, and by our divergence from taqwa. These leaks are definitely distant from Ramadan and fasting.
I take this as Allah’s plan to seperate his true worshippers from the ones being lost in the cranky system of liberalism. We have to protect Ramadan’s values and it’s core.
It only blurrs our religion’s core to make Ramadan together with idleness and joy even when it is done with good intentions. We can never be pleased with this.
Ramadan means extra energy, extra effort, extra jihad. This is how our Prophet sallallahu aleyhi ve sellem, his companions and other foremost examples of our religion saw Ramadan as. Ramadan means improvance in our worship. This is the reason why Ramadan is always considered with extra blessings.
In our ummah's honorable history, Ramadan conquests are as famous as tarawih prayers. Instead of seeing the notion ‘sleep’ with Ramadan, it is better to see Ramadan with Bedr, Conquest of Mecca, Conquest of Endulus, Conquest of Ammuriyye, Kadisiyye, Aynıcalût and all other magnificent victories of Islam.
Ramadan can never be considered with idleness. Ramadan means extra worshipping, extra excitement, extra jihad.
Selamunaleykum.
