How should those who experience memory loss in prayer be interpreted?
What do we need to know about the forgetfulness in prayer of someone with memory loss? Thank you.
An important fact to know about amnesia is this: It is a human condition. It may occur due to multiple reasons. It can be genetic as well as a result of a crash, a psychiatric condition, old age and Alzheimer's. Whatever the reason may be, we can determine the following as a personal judgment:
1. If forgetting is at the level of "not remembering at all", that is, if the memory is completely gone, the responsibility of worship (offer) is removed from that person. It does not matter whether s/he prayed or not. S/he has no liability.
2. If s/he remembers a little, not at the level of "not at all", for example, if s/he remembers what s/he did incompletely or wrongly, then the responsibility of that person is not removed. When s/he remembers that s/he made a mistake, s/he has to make up for it. If this is in the prayer and if s/he is missing one of the fards of the prayer in question, s/he will make up for it when s/he remembers. For example, if s/he remembers later that s/he did not say takbir when starting the prayer, s/he will repeat that prayer. Because takbir is one of the fards of prayer.
3. A person who has such a situation, that is, sometimes remembers what s/he forgot and sometimes does not, makes up for what s/he lacks when s/he remembers, and if s/he does not remember, s/he does not need to do anything.
4. This is also the case for those who disrupt the order in prayer, that is, first bowing and then prostrating.
