Am I a sinner for getting divorced?

I didn't want to divorce, but I had to end my marriage. My husband always said he was suspicious of me, but when I objected, he said he is bad himself. He did the same thing again after I forgave him. He was constantly threatening to divorce me and throw me out of the house. Sometimes he also beat me. I consulted the elders of the family many times and asked for help, but the result was always the same. Am I a sinner for getting divorced?
