Is it permissible to transplant pig kidney to human?
Selamunaleykum, scientists have been working on the compatibility between the pig and the human body for a long time, and finally, an experiment that can give hope to kidney patients has been successfully carried out. Pig kidney worked without problems in a human after transplantation. As we know, pigs are completely forbidden in our religion, what should our point of view towards this development of medicine be?
I do not know of a fatwa from fatwa centers and similar committees published on this subject. Based on general fiqh principles, it is possible to determine the following: The use of pork and its products is strictly prohibited. No pork products can be used in normal situations. Kidney is an indispensable organ in terms of its vital value. As long as humanity cannot produce any other alternative, that is, pig kidney remains as the only solution, there is no harm in using pig kidney as a spare organ in humans.
