A letter to a teenager asking how to get rid of watching pornography
Selamun aleykum. I have read your other articles on this subject, but it is possible for me to get married 1-2 years later, it will not be sooner. I am 23 years old. Ever since I hit puberty, I can't get rid of looking at obscene images (pornography). I swear I hate this situation, but even if I stop myself for 2-3 weeks, I still get into this mess. Please help; I can't open this issue to anyone, I'm waiting for your help. I can't find a solution with fasting. Please find a cure. I will pray for you a lot. I'm afraid that I'll get infected again after a while (due to habit) or something. May Allah bless you.
Aleykum salam. See life and faith as a jihad. Jihad is the name of what is permanent. What is done once and then finished is not called jihad. It is like prayer; done every day until death. Staying chaste and living morally are the most important parts of jihad. You have to be a jihadist too. Are you going to tell the devil 'let me go'? You will take off from the place where you fell a thousand times. It's called life, it's called jihad. You and every young person before you lived through such a test in this world. Clean up your environment first. Your environment affects you. Secondly, you are having a surplus of free time. You need to live fast with chores that will leave you tired enough to sleep without going to bed. Life is not filled with just lectures and the internet. A good believer, the hope of his ummah, a brave and useful young man, while continuing his school;
a- Works in a job in order not to receive a scholarship and a father's allowance, he gets used to living with the sweat of his brow,
b- Reads at least fifty pages a day according to his level,
c- Makes writing, poetry and art experiments. Develops what he has talent in,
d- Plays a sport in line with his ability; be well-groomed and handsome,
e- He makes friends who are more valuable than him and to be followed. It should not even be possible for a friend who does not have these qualifications to enter his social page. Because he knows that a horse walks with a horse, and a donkey with a donkey,
f- Becomes involved in a social activity; takes part in foundations, associations and similar institutions,
g- Surely he will have a mentor, he will draw his direction and direct him when necessary,
h- He always makes an account of the past, when he realizes that he made a mistake, he does not fall down, he repents and continues on his way,
i- He fills his heart with energy by reading the Qur'an. He sees being without the Qur'an as being without batteries,
j- Performs his prayers in the mosque until he is known as the congregation of a mosque,
k- He is patient. He is patient against troubles, against temptation, against the test of parents, against the temptation of the devil, against the temptation of lust. He is patient and expects his reward from Allah. We pray to you, we wait for you with hope. We are waiting, all humanity is waiting. We've been waiting for centuries.
